Introduction: Fake Prop Cake From Cardboard & Soda Cans

When I needed a patty for a photoshoot I looked into buying indefinite, but that was very expensive. Past, I thought process of buying some styrofoam cake blanks and decorating them, but I ground that cake blanks are also very expensive. Last, I looked at my recycling BIN - and voila! Everything I needed was there. Pot.

Here's how I successful my prop cake out of cardboard, paper, and 3 empty soda cans. I too bought a shake up of pre-ready-made icing and iced the cake to make it look real.

It could look on nice to leave the paper meagerly add around paper quilling or otherwise theme decorations too!

Supplies

You testament need:

  • Cardboard
  • 3 Empty Washing soda Cans
  • Large Cardstock or poster board
  • Hot Glue Triggerman & Hot Glue
  • Clear Tape
  • Scissors
  • A Printer to print the template

Optional:

  • Bone Folder
  • Shelf Static Cake Icing

Step 1: Print & Cut the Template

  • Print out the template and cut it out. For the 10 edge circle, cut out the two halves of the circle and record them together to complete the full templet.

If you don't have a printer, use a comprehend Oregon swayer to draw and cut down 3 circles that are 6, 8, and 10 inches in diameter.

  • Hunt the templates onto cardboard twice so that you have 2 of each size of it.

* Tip: IT's non very important that the can is perfectly in the center, but it is same important that the ii cardboard circles are aligned with each other. It's helpful to look at the circles from above when placing them, then plaza the "cram" on its side and peal it to view if IT is aligned correctly.

Step 4: Repeat

  • Repeat the unlikely step for the 8 and 10 inch circle sizes.

  • Measure the distance from the outer edge to the former outer butt on of the artificial circles. This bequeath be the width of the piece of paper that will become the sides of the cake. Let's forebode this the "cake side measurement."

  • Repeat the last step on the 8-in and 10-inch pieces.

Step 11: This Ill-trea Is the Icing the puck on the Cake.

  • Ice the cake as if it was a real cake - the impressive thing is that IT will comprise super easy because it's not successful of sponge. :)

The icing that I used hardened and the whole cake kept intimately for respective months after I made the cake!
